My Send Off – Maggie

Maggie is 69 years old and retired now from her long career in teaching. Maggie’s two adult children live far from her in other states and she rarely sees them anymore. Maggie’s concerns about her declining health and reluctance of her family to discuss her end of life plans led her to using the My Send Off app. Maggie always preferred the idea of being cremated despite her religious upbringing. She worried her family would just book the same funeral mass and burial in the local cemetery where her husband was buried. Maggie wanted to be scattered in the ocean where she felt most happy, and a casual memorial with friends, her children and grandchildren. There was to be no fuss and certainly no expensive coffin. Maggie had done her homework and already purchased a cardboard coffin that would carry her into the afterlife. My Send Off enabled Maggie to document all her choices and plan the whole thing, cremation, memorial, flowers and music. It was all in one place in her My Send Off account which she shared with her children. They were surprised at first although now understood how important it was to Maggie to be organized and to relax knowing everything she wanted would happen after her death. All she had to do now was decide what she wanted to wear to her send off and get on with her life!
